fuel sending unit question

Ok my gas gauge is bounceing all around and not reading right. I know this is proably the sending unit. Is there anything else that can go wrong besides that and if so what are some common things? also i have a 96 and i see that the price for a sending unit from my dealership is 300 my cost becuase it is all one piece with the pump and all. Is there anything else i could do as far as use 95 parts? thanks for helping

Re: fuel sending unit question

it could be the gauge, check that first using an autometer gauge or borrow another cluster.

Re: fuel sending unit question

Poor grounds can also cause guages to jump around. Clean and tighten your grounds.
