First car. Imports.

What was your first vehicle fellas? Mine is a 1997 Toyota Camry LE American Edition 5FSE. It was not fast by any means. But it was a fun car, reliable, trouble free. I really hated when people called me a "ricer" too. I hate that word. It sounds so uneducated. We've owned the car for 4 years now. I don't hate import cars. I used to drive one on a daily basis. Would hesitate to get behind the wheel of another. People just give them a bad name.

 How is this General F-Body tech?

Anyway, for what its worth: To me being a ricer doesn't matter the "Make" of your ride, but the "Mindset" of the the owner. We all have seen MANY riced domestic cars. Ownership of an import isn't bad, my wife has an 02 Mazda Protege. We change the oil, put gas in it, etc, and it doesn't nickel and dime Us to death on fixes, so it does its job quite nicely. It is rice? Nope. Do I think it the fastest car on the road? Nope. Do I have some Master Plan for it? Nope. Do I plan to ever try to make it make it fast? Nope. The car is a small economy car, and as that, it functions well  .

We all have meet that guy that has a car with a 15+ Second stock 1/4 time, that tells you how his stock car runs 10s, yet has never been to a track, and wouldn't race your 13 second car, even for fun

Or the guy that mouths your ride, but when called out always has some "issue" that keeps them from racing. Bad Tire, K&N isn't installed yet, Fill in their excuses here: "___________________"

That is a Small bit of what a ricer is to Me.

My first car was an import too:(. A 1985 VW Cabriolet convertible. My first real car was a 1981 Z28:thumb:. I couldn't stand the lack of power and torque, the wimpy sounding engine, and the fact that the front wheels were driving the car:rolleyes:. I sold the VW and got the Z28 as soon as I could, and that car was awesome! RWD (how a car should be built;)) with a powerful, sweet sounding engine!:D The only thing the Z didn't have/do that the VW did was handle the same.....I've never driven a car that cornered as well as that VW, but then again, where F-bodies lack in cornering capability, they make up in power and style:thumb:.

Re: First car. Imports.

First car I drove on a regular basis was my dad's '80 El Camino with an anemic 267 V8, sounded good with the dual exhaust that was on it. My dad always told me it was a Camaro exhaust, never was interested enough to find out.

My first car that I owned was a '65 Rambler Classic station wagon that was given to me by my dad's friend. Car had a showroom new looking interior with some rust on it and a 232L6 with a 1bbl carb and an automatic trans that would never go into 3rd gear even after a flush. Used to scream it around in 2nd gear redlining about 55mph. Only had 32k original miles on it. I was going to restore the body and drop a 350/TH350/8.5" 10-bolt into it until a huge branch fell on it and wrinkled the roof pretty bad. Now it sits in my dad's friend's storage building again.

Re: First car. Imports.

I got my first car back in 1986 which was a rust bucket 1970 Baracuda with a 318. My friends and I would have one wheeled burn out contests, and play "Dukes of Hazard" in it and other stupid stuff. Needless to say, that car lasted about 2 months before I killed it (What do you expect from 16 year olds with a really cheap car right?). Next car was an 80 Honda Accord "hand me down" from my brother, which I hated, so you can imagine what that car went through. :D Amazingly though, the Accord lasted over a year.
