Drivers side power window ?!?!

My window is giving me problems. They had both been working perfectly, then yesterday, the driver side window starts acting up... it's almost like it's losing power. It will work fine for a few seconds, then stop. When I push the switch, I can hear a faint clicking kind of noise like it's trying to work, but can't. Passenger side still works fine. If I shut the car off and wait a few minutes, driver side will work for a few more seconds, then stop again. What the crap???

Re: Drivers side power window ?!?!

I jsut repalced mine last night around 1 am... took me like 45 minutes.

http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html

I needed a
-small socket set
-large clamp(one used for changing brake pads on f-bodies)
-both flathead and phillips scredriver
-drill and a few bits

It looks harder then it really is.

But honestly you did make me feel better, I was quit annoyed that my 2000 with 40,000 miles on it was already losing a power window, but I can assume you are even more mad having a 2002.\

BTW a side note, I uploaded the pics from that site to my digital camera since I don't have a laptop or printer, so I could look at the pictures when I was on campus fixing it, and have a better idea of where to drill the holes in my door.

why the flock does this happen at the most in-opertune times?

window has been working fine, used it without problem 3 times this morning alone..

get to work...nothing...not even partial roll up...

i can hear it clicking a little...motor must have really died.

lets see...3 years with a 4th gen, 3 window motors...what fun

Outstanding... thanks for the help guys. Yes, it does kind of piss me off that I'm already having to replace a window motor on an '02... but I do have 56,000 miles on it already, so I guess it's not THAT horrible.

No its still horrible....

my '85 camaro made it 13 years and 105,000 miles before it went out.

Think GM's technology woudl improve over the years.... But ok it didn't but then they had the problem in in lt1 cars... So after 4 years of this problem why didn't they do something to fix this problem? Bigger motor? bigger lead wires? whatever?

Its pretty rediculous to burnout so quickly on cars.

Re: Drivers side power window ?!?!

I just read a post a couple of days ago on this same subject. I would try doing a search for power window or something like that. In there it explained that there is a little thermal switch inside the motor and how to bypass it. The people that did it said they had no problems and the windows actually seem to go up faster also. Just letting you know.

Re: Drivers side power window ?!?!

my drivers side is failing i have a 95 TA. I asked the parts guy at the chevy dealership why they go out so easy and he explained on all two door cars they use the same window motor as they use on four door so the motor fails so easy due to the weight of the window.

As for the wires for hte window, I noticed they looked like 10 guage, maybe 12 guage, but they are still pretty thick wires, seems kinda of strange they need to be thicker.

But like you said I have heard the same thing.
