Disconnecting exhaust from Y pipe

Can I disconnect my exhaust from the Y pipe and run straight exhaust for awhile? Anyone done this? How does it sound? Will I ruin anything by doing this? Thanks

What steps should I do to do this? planning on jacking up the car behind right front tire, taking that brace off, disconnecting the Y pipe. Do you move the exhaust pipe over a little and drive the car without that brace on it? Or what should I do?

You can run your exhaust like that for a while but its going to be loud as hell. Its cool for the first couple of minutes but it gets soo anoying. In first gear its like you are at WOT. The car rattles and the smell is nasty. It wont hurt anything but you will get tired of it and want the exhaust on pretty quick. I drove with my exhaust off for almost 3 weeks, just open y pipe and nothing else. Man did I hate it.

Why do you want to run like this in the first place? Bad cat? Dont take the brace off just leave it on. Also try not to go over any bumps. :)

Would just do it for tonight for a local car cruise. Want it to be loud :D is there room to unbolt the Y, and put the brace back on? What if i left it off? Also why would it smell bad, still running through the cats, just not the muffler....
