Nothing to do with the distributor.
DTC 43 is for the knock sensor. Voltage on circuit is not within spec. When the code sets, the PCM uses things like RPM, MAP and throttle position to determine when to retard spark and how much to retard. Basically, you will have knock retard all the time, losing performance.
Pull single wire off knock sensor, key on/engine off, measure voltage between pin in harness and engine block. Should be about 5 Volts. Wire still off sensor, measure resistance between pin in sensor and engine block. Should be in range 3,300-4,500 ohms.
Reconnect harness wire to sensor. Voltage should be in the range of 1.5-3.5 volts.
