buying a used z28 Lt1

i'm going to see a 1995 camaro z28 Lt1 6 spd with t-tops...i was wondering if you guys could give me some advice on to what i should look for in the car before buying it

i would make sure you floor it at least once to make sure theres no misses or bogging. Other then that basicly the same as any other car. Pop the hood and listen for knocking of ticking. Also run your finger along the back of the intake manifold and check for oil residue. If you find some, the intake manifold is probably keaing. Dont let this discourage you from buying the car but adjust your offer accordingly.

He's right you need to listen for ticking but hearing tickin shouldn't make you paranoid these cars have loud injector ticking when I first got my car sometimes it would make me paranoid...floor at least once in 2nd gear from say a 40ish mph roll, run it all the way to redline and make sure the radio is off...listen for any signs of a miss and possible opti going out...make sure the clutch and brakes feel good. Check the window motors, shocks, look for oil leaks...it is important to not however, that intake and front seal leaks are very common on these cars so unless its bad I wouldn't sweat it...I've had a leak since I bought mine. Its not bad at all, even after switching from dyno oil to synthetic, its maybe 1/4 of a quart every 4k....I don't really even think its that cause I never have to add any oil...check the tires, to make sure the car hasn't been abused...if you got a lot of tread left on the front or rear, and the opposite end is pretty worn, that means they probably drive the car pretty hard...

I meant to say earlier look for rear main seal leaks as well...

look underneeth it for rust and around the rear tires those are the places that go first behind the rocker panels..... pick up the rear seat and see if the hatch leaked at all or the ttops. shift the car through the gears and see if the gear move freely or if they get stuck on anything... these cars are very durable i have 150k on mine and most of it is stock except the exhaust but thier are guys who go to the track all the time and have 180k i think i saw one operson with 240k but im not sure it was mile or kilometers

hey thanks for all the help...the car has 160 km's on it... but he had a new engine but in it 87, 000km on it...i'll look for all those details you told me about
