Backfire..?
Alright, I was coming down the interstate sunday, comin back to school, it was about 80mph for 1 1/2 hrs and as i let off to go 55, i hear it crack
so i start testin my car. I hit the gas about 3/4+ to the floor and when i let off as the rpms drop it sounds like air bubbles are coming out of the exhaust or somethin.. hard to describe, ill go record it if i have to :) any idea what this is? is it normal, and is it slowin me down? Thanks! Scott |
Re: Backfire..?
My car does it too. '88 TA with 305TPI, automatic trans, 2.73 gears, SLP 3" 2OTL cat-back and stock manifolds/cat. I'm pretty sure its normal, though I was wondering about it again today when I was messing around. Hold it in first, rev it up a bit (don't need to floor it) and let off the gas and it does the same thing. I'm pretty sure its normal...

Re: Backfire..?
that's just back pressure, it's no big deal. even your high-end cat-backs will pop like that. Best way to remedy the problem: Long tubes, high-flow cats, 3" y-pipe.
