anyone use car covers?
 

I think I am getting close to getting another f-body. This will be a fair-weather, weekend car.

However, for the first time in my life, I am living in a house with no garage or carport. :-\ I guess I'll have to use a car cover this winter and hope I can get get some logistics going and have one of those portable steel carports put up in the early spring.

Who has experience with storing a second car outdoors in a climate similar to St Louis MO? Any suggestions on car covers?

i bought one from work (autozone) cost bout $50 dont know the weather there but i bought mine 2 yrs. ago during the winter and stayed clean no water got through also had some ice and still nothing. i live in san antonio tx never had snow so cant tell you if that will be a problem.

Google on "portable garage". More expensive that a car cover, but probably better.

The portable garages are a little too much to spend for a few months of coverage, especially considering I'll be getting a steel carport in the spring. I appreciate the tip tho.

I had a little cheapy $20 AutoZone special one for a while. Was worth much more than just keep dust off the car. Any moisture would seep right through it.

Has anyone tried the SLP cover? Has anyone tried the Budge Max?

I used a CoverCraft Noah Outdoor cover for two years...:cool:

Car was under 2-3 Ft of snow a number of times without issue. Biggest Issue I had was with the wind, and the cover blowing off. Without a doubt make sure to get a locking cable, and really tie it down;)

I used the SLP cover that came with the SS for a while. It's fine as long as it isn't windy, but when I moved the car outside, the wind made the cover rubbed a couple of places. Not horrible damage, but damage none the less.

Thanks for all the input. After looking at several covers online, I chose the Noah cover mentioned by 96 Z 28. The part about the snow was the kicker as we get a little of that in the winter. It arrived a couple weeks ago and it fits like a glove. It rained some after that, not a hard rain but afterwards I went outside and there was no water under the cover on the rear spoiler. I know some will seep thru eventually but I took that as a good sign. However, a few days later it was windy. At some point overnight, the cover blew off and was lying beside the car. When I put it back on, I used the grommets on the bottom and tied the cover on. No problems with cover blowing off and the wind was really howling late last week. It seems to be a great cover which I would recommend to anyone.

hey if you are looking car cover for the winter season than get some heavy duty car cover, which will be thick for sure. Most key feature you must look in as breathable to avoid any kinda color fading :cool:
