A guy I know is wanting to get a stock muffler for his 97 V6 because the place he had the work done did a hack job on the hangar mounts. How much work would it be to get the muffler for a 98+ car on my 96 Z. It is apart of a american thunder with the 80 series muffler. 2.5 inch. Not sure if the stock LT1 exhaust is 2.5 or not.

pretty sure it's the same for 93-02 in the way of mufflers
yea, i think the lt1 exhaust is 2.5 in or 2.75
i could not find anything that says it's 2.5 or 2.75
i'll go measure a new stock i-pipe that i have in my garage (need it to hook up my gmmg)

it is 2.5 so you can go ahead and use the muffler

 

So the hangar mounts are in the same spot also?

 

the muffler doesn't have any hanger mounts
only the i-pipe and tailpipes have hangars

 

stock LT1 exhaust is 2.75" you measured 2.5?

 

it's 2.5in after the cat going into the i-pipe, then it enlarges to 2.75 in the i-pipe and finally shrinks back down to 2.5 to go into the muffler
trust me, i've had enough exhaust issues lately to know

 

ooohhh i never knew that it shrinks down to go into the muffler, learn something new all the time
