3in to 2.5 exhaust step...power lost?

My Y Pipe is 3in, from there back concidering the step down to the current 2.5 (i think 2.5) then through the magniflow and out the twin 2.5 pipes. Will this restriction be noticable?

Would love to go all the way out the back with 3", but I was wondering if the cost would be justified. If the loss will not be noticed then leave it. You may be right it may be dropping to 2.75", that's not as bad.

In a word NOPE. You wont notice any difference in a 2.5 or 3 inch exhust. Now will it make less horsepower in a word YES. Will it matter in your everyday driving not at all. Dont lose any sleep over this subject. Ive run open pipes to my current SLP Y-Pipe with a 28 inch 2.5 chambered tube doesnt make a hill of beans differnce to the seat of my pants feel of the car. As I dont race the differce in HP isnt worth a thing and the sound is great.

Re: 3in to 2.5 exhaust step...power lost?

i have read many posts that suggested a step down in exhaust size about half way down the car for more power, something about flow quality. supposedly as the gases cool in the exhaust pipe, a reduction in pipe size will increase flow velocity, which should increase your torque. either way i wouldn't worry about it unless you are on a radical engine combination.
