Sometimes car needs to be started 2-3 times!

Hey guys, i'm use to getting into a car, starting it up, and it running. Now i started having a problem with my car, that gets kinda annoying especally if people are around. If i jump in my car, and start it up... sometimes it just shuts off! Then I have to deal with people looking at me, and asking what's wrong with your car.
Now: If I get in my car, turn the key to the on position, and wait two to three seconds, then turn the key the rest of the way... it always starts without a problem.
What could be going on?
Sometimes I go turn the key and there is no click or nothing, like no power.... if I pause for a second or two, then turn the key again... it starts! WTF???
Loose battery cable? I checked
Dead Battery? Had it replaced last year
air filter dirty? Changed the set up to a Volant intake.

Anything i'm over looking? Thanks guys/girls

Fuel pump could be going out. Check the fuel pressure first. If the fuel filter is old you should replace that also.

Could also be a problem with the ignition switch.

Well I had to change the fuel pump at 55,000 miles. I'm at 80K and I strongly think its not that.

Never assume that because you replaced the fuel pump it isn't going to die in a short period of time. The Walbro's seem to be notorious for failing due to dirty fuel.
