Some pics of my plugs

I've never seen plugs with pink/purple coloring. Some of my plugs look very lean(white) while others are varying shades of pink/purple.

Any ideas?

i pulled out the plugs on my 87 mustang and they had a redish tint to them.
i was told it was due to the additives in the gas.

Thanks. I read that too. From what I've found so far, they appear to be burning well, with some of them a little on the lean side.
I was a little surprised by how they look so different from each other.

What's your plug gap set at? Maybe it's just the pictures, but some of them look excessive. What kind of fuel are you running thru the motor? Any "additives"? As mentioned above, some fuels and/or additives will cause the plugs to have an unusual tint to them, but you would expect to see it more evenly across all of them. How many miles are on the motor? HAve you done a compression test or leakdown test on the motor to verify the condition of each cylinder?

Plug gap is set at .050. They are all the same. I'm not using any additives and I run premium only.
The motor has 135k on her. I'd like to do a compression test but that must be a helluva job on these cars. It's hard enough to change the plugs. It's got to be a bitch screwing a compression gauge on.

I am thinking the motor is pretty tired. I'm starting to look for another motor to begin building.
