Re: access door cutout for fuel pump

I did this mod on my 97ss. Used a grinder cut-off wheel (0.032" thk). Cut just inside the rear floor pan supports. Don't cut very deep due to tank and fuel line runs in these areas.

Take time and move slow.

Re: access door cutout for fuel pump

I used a grinder to start the line and then I used tin snips. I started thinking about the gas tank maybe leaking and didn't want to risk the sparks on the tank. Only took about 30 minutes, just remember to cut towards the back seat pretty far to access the fuel line connections.

I used a dremel and it was very easy. the tank is like 1 1/2 inches below , i didnt even get close to it. I cut the sides and 1 across so i could just bend the flap back down and reattach it.

i use painters tape then make an outline on the bucket... then draw a line in marker to follow use a RULER!!! I use my ryobi battery operated circular saw with a grinder wheel in it. i cut my bucket and swapped pumps in about 15 min!
