WTF??? Disappointing track times.

Ran a 12.4@116 with a 2.05 60'. This sucks. For comparison's sake here is some history.

On motor, I ran 13.0@111-112 with a 2.0x 60'. A 100 shot on that and it ran 12.2s@120 with a similar 60'. Now this 100 shot added only about 80 hp to the n/a hp but torque was a lot better. But the dyno graph looked really bad because the a/f dropped off the chart. Needless to say, the torque died due to the a/f and hp suffered as well. It ended up peaking at 372hp(with the 100 shot).

Had this thing tuned at the first of the month with the blower on it. 456/442 at the wheels. This is where I say "WTF???" I picked up 80 hp and lost 4 mph in the 1/4. What is even harder to comprehend is how I only picked up about 5 mph from my n/a speed. With an extra 150 hp.

Car didn't feel weak or anything. What am I missing? Nitrous is definately going back on.

Got any pics of the dyno sheets?

I went looking for my old nitrous dyno graphs but couldn't find them. I will look tomorrow and try to find them.

Found my blower sheets but still looking for the old nitrous ones.

You would expect me to pick up more than 5-6 mph over my n/a speed though, right?

NA with less power = high MPH from what I'm heard, with NA you're shifting at 7k RPM sometimes and are in your power band, the powercurve for NA is more steady and gradual, Boost has high peak power but look at the area under the curve, thats where I heard NA actual goes faster but peaks less, plus shifting at 7k RPM gives you a lot of inertia when you are in your next gear you're right at the powerband.

Re: WTF??? Disappointing track times.

I never shifted at 7k. I tried to shift at 6200-6300 on motor. Now I shift at around 5900. You think going to a 3.73 from a 3.42 would pick up my mph some? I will be closer to redline going through the quarter. But if it does pick the mph up, I could be hitting the redline before the 1/4. Hmmm.

How do the 1/8th mile compare

I know my times suck because i have to shift literally right before the finish

I can't find any old timeslips right now but they are around here somewhere. I think the et is similar(maybe better) and the mph is about the same(90-91). Throught the last 1/8 of the quarter is where I am losing. Instead of picking up 30 mph, I only pick up about 25. I was expecting both mphs to be higher. I will post up when I find some slips and sheets.

what was the 1/8th et and MPH for the last run you just did.

I would think the blower setup woudl scream the last half where the nitrous setup would be better in teh first 1/8th

8.15@90or91(don't have it in front of me) with a 2.05 60'. That is 5-6 more mph than I do n/a.

Re: WTF??? Disappointing track times.

I doubt you ever gained 30mph in the last 1/8th (no matter which setup we are talking about). Most street cars gain 20-25mph in the 2nd half.

So who are you calling a liar, the multiple tracks I visited, or me?

Unless you have something useful to add, please don't reply to my posts.

Re: WTF??? Disappointing track times.

On my best pass ever, I picked up 27.4 mph in the last half.

456 rwhp should get you over 120 mph easy, probably closer to 125 in one of those light 3rd gen's.

I don't think a gear change would make much difference, but I doubt you're making 456 rwhp anymore. Maybe it's false knock causing the computer to pull out timing at the track???

I am not calling you a liar, just you have a bad memory or the printout is wrong. Your car is far from fast with nitrous, without nitrous, with blower, without blower. Look at engineermike, he gain 27.#mph in a 10 second car that traps in the 135mph range. That was my point. The reason i pointed it out was because you were using the 30mph to 25mph drop as an example of something being wrong. I am saying that there probably isnt even a drop at all, and most likely the 30mph was wrong anyway.

The only way 30mph is correct is if you only sprayed nitrous close to the 1/8th mile mark, and not from the line. This will show a lower potential 1/8mph, but an abnormally high 2nd half mph. If you were trapping 120mph with juice, then you were only trapping 90mph in the 1/8th? Seems slow, but if you didnt spray till 2nd gear, then perhaps. You need to give more details on the N2O run.

By the way, I wasnt trying to be a dick. Just wanted to point out that at the power levels your at, there is no way you would go 30mph in the 2nd half if you were going balls to the wall from the line. Thats all.

Re: WTF??? Disappointing track times.

Thanks for clearing that up, but you should have been clearer in your first post.

I can't spray it out the hole. I sprayed it at after I got hooked in first, all of second, all of the third, and the rest of the way. I'd say the first 2 seconds at most were the only I didn't spray. I doubt the printouts were wrong. I have made too many passes at several tracks for them to be all wrong.

Mike, something does seem wrong. I will have to log a run and see if knock is causing anything, but I doubt it. That is something the tuner addressed on the dyno. I am looking for a scanner/printer so I will be able to post the images up when I break down and get one.

Thanks for the help.
