Vortech Exchange Program

Anyone have anything good/bad to say about Vortech's exchange program? I've decided to hang on to my 97, but I want to get rid of the god awful whail that the V1 S trim produces at idle, so I'm thinking I should exchange it for a V2 SQ S trim. Any suggestions/experiences would be helpful.

PS. I want to stay away from a T trim for a while. This is a daily driver after all.

Thanks

Where in Jacksonville do you live, id like to check out your setup. BTW, I know serveral people that have t-trims on there dialy drivers, afterall Im about to have a d-1 on mine.;)

I haven't used the exchange program but I looked into it. The way it looked to me was in order to use the program you will be buying the unit from Vortech and they charge about $400-500 more than the dealers charge. By the time they give you something for yours (probably the minimum), you would be better off buying from a dealer and selling your old unit. I may be wrong but that's how I saw it.

Hey MEAN LT1,

I'm out in the Clay Hill/Maxville Area of Jax. You're welcome to checkout the setup, but it's nothing special yet. I'm usually in Orange Park on Sundays and at home poor on Monday and Tuesday.

Brooke,

I wouldn't really mind having a T trim, but what I really want to do is drop the noise level. The car is fine while it's moving, but at an idle the blower is louder than the radio or the exhaust, and it's right on par with the soon to be replaced Trex pump. How loud is the T trim compared to the V1 S trim? Do all the brackets and things fit the same or do I have to modify them?

Thanks guys

I used the exchange program on my old mustang. I sent in my little A-trim, recieved a $1000 credit, and bought an SQ-trim for the $700 ($1700 - $1000 credit). It was very easy, and I'd recommend it. It's much easier than trying to find someone selling an SQ-trim head unit.

sorry for hijacking the thread...

just out of curiosity, what's a good board for finding slightly used forced induction (LT1) stuff? I'm looking for a pretty cheap used D1SC headunit and bracket -- if other stuff comes with it, cool, but that's all I really need.

I like the whine personally, it's music to my ears. I'm glad I got rid of that T-rex though, that thing was awful. I have heard that powerdyne makes the quietest blower so if you want quiet and don't plan on upping the boost, get that.

Well, the boost will be turned up after the stock bottom end goes pop. I'm hoping to get past 150K miles, I'm at 75K right now. So by that time the blower should definately need a rebuild anyway. Decisions, decisions...

I'm working on a new deal right now anyway. 1969 Camaro body & interior, no motor or tranny. I want it so bad it hurts. It would be so much cooler for my project car instead of the GTA. I'm waiting for the seller to get the title straightened out. Everyone keep your fingers crossed and wish me luck. :D
