Twin Superchargers??

Just wondering why people twin turbo cars but do not twin supercharge them.
I guess superchargers can make the same power using just one?

Same thing as a turbo really, you usually can achieve the same power using one. A turbo is supposed to be a little more efficient so using two turbos isn't as bad as using two superchargers.

And people do use twin superchargers. You will see it on very old racing cars from when superchargers were grossly inefficient on very large displacement motors.

You'll also see it on hotrods, it's mainly just for show. Or you may see it on things that need the balance of two.

Here's another:

I don't see how anybody could drive that crazy hemi - it's too big to see over or around!

PS I'm old enough to remember stuff like that...

People choose two small turbo's over one big one so they will spool faster and not have as much turbo lag.

I can't see any reason performance wise why anyone would want or need two superchargers.

Probably. The thing about positive displacement blowers is that they in a sense "add displacement" to your motor. So if those 2 blowers are 3 liters each (I can't tell how big they really are) then they effectively add 6 liters to what is probably a 7 liter motor anyway.

Belt driven superchargers lag too, atleast the centrifugal ones do, just not as much. But there really isn't any performance reason to do it, unless your performance goal is 3000hp and 300mph, then they might be a viable option.

Can you explain how a belt driven centrifugal supercharger lags when it is mechanically tied to rpm of the crankshaft?

Well it doesn't really lag that much. If you compare it to a positive displacement blower then the difference is much more pronounced. If you compare it to a turbo supercharger then you would probably say it doesn't lag at all.
