Turbo Guys: what exhaust gaskets do you run?

My SLP header didn't hold it's gasket, so I"m looking for some suggestions. I was running Felpro's with some high-temp RTV. What gaskets are everybody else running with their turbo setups?

dead soft aluminum? copper?

Go get some stock manifold gaskets. They will hold very well.

I don't have a single exhaust gasket on my entire car. Just a thin coat of RTV between flanges.

I've heard of that being done as well. perhaps I'll try that this time around and see that'll seal. Good advice.

Which RTV are you using? Most of that stuff burns off when the exhuast reaches operating temp, doesn't it?

Rtv can only burn if oxygen gets to it meaning you have a header leak.

I dont like to use rtv only on my headers because if one bolt loosens your pulling the header. Go get some steel mesh gaskets, napa sells them. Just say its for a 96 1/2 ton with the vortech motor. These work the best for me.

I used stock GM gaskets from the 96 1/2 ton Chevy truck as well on the SLP header, they are stainless steel and seal well. Everything else, including the stock LT1 gaskets and both styles of Felpro's failed.
