I have never used them but all I have heard is bad things. Good theory poor performance. Make a post on nmca-racing.com attn Mike Canter and he can give you more details. The guy knows his stuff.

I personally had a bad experience w/Total Seal. I know a few people with NA cars that like them but my top rings flaked (from heat??) on the face that comes into contact w/cylinder walls and acted like a file...I'll never use them again in one of my engines...Speedpro Plasma Moly files fits are what I use now and have had no issues with them yet.

We've always used the gapless 2nd/moly top combo with excellent results in our 1000+hp turbocharged small block Fords. I've never had any flaking at all up through about 1300-1400hp. Once we went over 1300hp, we did ditch the moly top ring for a "hellfire" top ring due to flaking. But any moly top ring will flake once you reach that amount of power/heat/cylinder pressure.

Who makes this "hellfire" ring and how can I find out more about it?

Hellfire is a Federal Mogul made top ring. TotalSeal, C&A, SpeedPro, etc. all use it in their extreme duty ring sets for over 1200hp. It's softer on the bores than a tool steel or stainless top ring which is what engine builders used to use for this application.
