Supercharging a stock LT1...
I'm very new to forced induction, so pardon any misunderstandings and/or stupidity...
I've got a 1996 Z28 M6, mods are listed in signature.
I've been thinking about making one "major" upgrade in the way of either heads and a cam, or a forced induction unit.
First of all, what precautions would i need to look out for with a stock internals-LT1 from that year? Would it even be wise to think about a forced induction unit with the motor approaching 100k miles? Would i have to have someone open up the motor and drop compression? What if i wanted to run just a small amount of boost, say 4-6psi? I understand that low compression and higher boost situations are more reliable, but am i asking for something to break in my case?
I plan to put in a SPEC stage 2 or equivilant in the springtime as the stock throwout bearing decided to take a hike on me, if that makes a difference.
Thank you in advance for any and all input you can give, even if it's telling me i'm dreaming
I'd rather know it now than break my baby!

You may want to do a search....you'll find more information than you want to know much faster than waiting for everyone to post it in this thread.
Eventually you're asking for something to fail. IMO spend the money on the accessories you'll need then look into FI. ie. head/intake, headers, bottom end, drivetrain.

With 100k things would come to an end very shortly. Stick with heads and cam. Too many things to worry about from boost. The gain from 4-6psi would be 60-85rwhp. That isn;t really worth it. You would spend 3k and blow up your motor. I would buy heads and a cam, much more trustworthy.
