STS With LongTubes
I've heard that because the cast manifolds retain heat better than headers, or maybe even coated headers, that they are preferred for a rear-mount turbo setup. With the turbo so far away from the heat pump (engine) this may be valid. Heat is energy.
Are you not going to 'boost fully' with headers? I don't think it will matter all too much for the everyday street/strip car. If you have headers, I wouldn't say swap to stock manifolds to increase effectiveness of an STS or rear mount system. I would wrap the entire exhaust back to the turbo though.
Do understand the point of view of the argument however.....you are at a disadvantage with a rear mount kit when compared to a front mount with this regard. period.
