I was wondering how many guys run oil coolers on your turbo cars? I have an
oil cooler sitting around (my old trans cooler) it is like 12x6x0.75 so
I figured it would be of use for an oil cooler now. I bought a huge trans
cooler since I am not running a stock rad now.

Where should I place the oil cooler as in terms of flow?
Im thinking this way.

Port above oil filter->cooler->turbo->turbo drain into pan.

I was also going to place a 7 inch fan on it since I am ordering my
12inch fans off a site and they sell 7inch ones for like 25 bucks.

Also on my motor it was gapped for 15w-40 - 20W-50 (depending on brand
some seem to be thicker and the motor pushes it out)

I ran royal purple 15w-40 and it was too thin, then switched to Vavoline VR
race oil. It seems okay and about 40% the cost of royal purple.

I was thinking of running 15W-40 Rotella-T (Yes deisel oil) My dads 383 was
built by T&L engines and they recommend it in there motors. Also a few other guys
I know run it.

Would I be better off with a 15W-40 because of the turbo?

Also I am adding an innovative Wideband/turbo Timer. Looks like a good deal

Oil... 20w50 redline/ with 1 qt of lucas stabilizer.
Oil cooler... Air to air in front of relocated rad. 1.5" x 18 x 11. (2) 12" fans on rad, pull type.

 

i run rotella in everything. it has some kinda special additive in it that other oils dont, cant remember what it is.
