Oil return, oil level sender hole
Oil return, oil level sender hole
has anyone ever thought about using the oil level sender hole for a oil return? Its relatively high in the pan if i remeber right... I haven't checked exactly what the threads are but i would imagine they are NPT.
I'm just not excited about punching/tapping my oil pan.. I would much rather drill/weld a fitting in. but thats out of the question with the motor in the car.

Re: Oil return, oil level sender hole
I think the low level sender is equivalent to about 2 quarts low.. lower than you would want to run it, IMHO. I don't have the desire to look it up, but in my old twin turbo pics I have some pictures of my drain back dilemma.. http://teamprickracing.com/twinturbo

I looked around on my website and found a couple pages that may be of some help, if not- just ignore me.

Re: Oil return, oil level sender hole
ah, I see that is too low.. I was thinking it was higher than that.
I know all about drain back, I built a twin turbo kit for a SN95 and we had some drain back issues.
Crap, I wish I had welded a fitting in there "in case" when the motor out last year.
oh well, I'll just punch it and tap it. Would have been a cool idea if tha twas higher

Re: Oil return, oil level sender hole
hey brady, how was it dropping the motor and the front suspension out the bottom like that?
looks fairly simple that way.
im thinking about pulling the motor myself when it comes time to do a rebuild.

Re: Oil return, oil level sender hole
i ran my return line to the low oil level sender hole. why would it be too low. i have a turbo tech kit and just run the return line down through the k member to the pan. when i go to rebuild this winter i won't run it that way again but it works fine now. why do you say its too low?
