New Project... How about some input on setup...

Well I had a 96 Ta that for a very short bit the LT1 was turbo'd. Then swapped to a 5.3 and boosted also. Sold it and moved on.

Got the itch back and bought a 93 formy for $1000. What to do what to do...

My first idea is to gut it. Completly. Everything I can cut out or ditch. Lose every bit of wiring and do a cheap and simple summit harness (light ya know) and build a standalone LS harness like I did for the 5.3 swap. I figure a 2800lbs race weight should be pretty easily attainable.

I have a LQ4 jsut laying around so was thinking about selling the lt1 out of the car, putting full tubular suspension under the front for the gen 3 engine. Forged rods, pistons, arp hardware, and cnc ported 317s (TSP) to make up a bad lil 370. Should make a great base for a healthy boosted engine.

Haven't decided on doing another turbo setup or trying out the D1SC. People have been running amazing track times with these chargers. The turbo cars seem to lay down better numbers (dyno) for similar track times. I can put together a turbo setup for a reall fair price but it is hard to get around spending a load doing a procharger.

Other option is forged and boosted LT1. Goal is over 700rwhp (as the stock 5.3 was doing over 500rwhp too easy), so I think the LS will make it a little easier.

So what do you guys think?? Give me your opinions...

Check it out....

I think you should get an Allison 700hp turbine engine out of a wrecked helicopter and try to make it work. Can you imagine the power to weight ratio? LOL JK Sky is the limit. Glad you're back.

I give a vote for the LS motor. Always liked the low end torque of the LT1 but lets face it, the LS will out perform the LT on the top end and will acheive your goal easier. An LT1 can be just as fast but takes more work and money to run the same times.... OR at least thats my experience. There's my 2 cents.

Well looks like gen 3 it is guys.

What I scored up for the car friday was..

-Ls1 formy front bumper
-Ls1 hood
-L92 heads with P&P'd exhaust ports (as cast intake ports flow 328cfm @ .600!!!!)
-LS3 intake and fuel rails
-Stock 16" firebird wheels

Had a powerdyne supercharger for 99+ trucks and got all this stuff and put $600 in my pocket for it.

Project is off to a good start it seems. I wont be using a s400, because for the money I mise well use the Master Power T76. Looking at tuning option still and haven't decided if I should buy up a stock harness and pcm and mod it, then buy EFI Live again (last one got stolen), or to do megasquirt this time.

Last car I built all the motor mounts and modded stock trans k member. This time im thinking im going ALL tubular before the car ever hits the streets. The price of the tubular stuff is really reasonable in my opinion and if im really trying to get the car the chevy 2 wieght (got to love the box nova's), I will have to do everything I can.

Speaking of nova's. You should see the project we just picked up today! 63 Chev Nova SS... Back half'd/tubbed, caged, front stub with all tubular suspension... Friends car. Looking at $10k 960horse big blocks for it right now... makes doing what I am seem pointless!

IMO, i would go megasquirt with it.

BTW, if you need cold side stuff, i have an intercooler and a wastegate with couple springs laying in the garage, along with a greddy style BOV, and a wideband

Well guys im still alive!!!

Been working a lot and started on the car finally. I just got a bunch of parts in and more on the way.

-Wolfe CM 10 point cage.
-Wolfe Mini tubs
-10" 150# qa1 coils and adjustable mounts
-Wolfe Adjustable offset LCA
-Wolfe CM powerglide trans k (you would not BELIEVE how light this thing is)

Car is in the shop now getting the Tubs, subframe connectors, and cage installed.

I also just ordered a narrowed Midwest Chassis fabricated 9" and CM short torque arm with 35 spline axles and 5/8" wheel studs.

I been working a average of 80 hours a week and haven't had time to get pictures of the goods yet. As soon as the rear end shows up I will try to get time to get you guys some suspension ****
