lots of blue smoke on newer engine? turbo
so i just picked up this camaro, "traded one of my bikes for it" and heres the build list
1986 Chevy Camaro Z - 28 TurboCharged built 350 engine quick fuel 650cfm double pumper carb Master Power T70 turbo big Intercooler Full Aeromotive fuel system sumped fuel cell 8 point roll cage weld in subframe Manual shift automatic TH350 tranny Mallory highfire digital ignition Spohn performance awd torsion tranny mount safety loop around driveline battery relocated to the back oil cooler tranny cooler Air/Fuel gauge boost gauge water temp gauge shift light, digital rpm gauge. Msd distributor. did the Headgaskets about 3 weeks ago, had the heads milled by Cassel Engines. used Felpro 1003 headgaskets, 1205 intake gaskets and Remflex Header gaskets. any ways im blowing lots of blue/white smoke. great big puff on start up and lots on idle. but it dont smoke once you start driving. The smoke is coming out the the exhaust and the right side valve breather filter. supposedly the engine has 3.3k miles on, i kinda believe that but then again i dont. i runs great and pulls hard just so so much smoke. i wanna say it used a almost a quart of oil in 70 miles. is it the rings? where they not done properly? guy said was driving kinda hard one day then bam smoke out of no where and hasnt stopped since then. im using delo 10w30 oil at the moment. guy also said he has no idea if the guy before who build it even did the valve seats. but he did say when he did the gaskets the pistons where far from stock and the head is not stock either. heres the craigslist add "hopefully he dont take it down since i got it" 1986 Z-28 Chevy Camaro Turbo Charged also sometimes it dont even smoke on start up or idle but some other times its like a 2 stroke v8. what do you guys think? compression test? i have basic knowledge but not too much advanced knowledge with my mechanic skills. and another thing its a automatic and its rigged up somehow where if you put it in drive or 2 you start out in one until you shift into 2 then drive. he said something about no "kickdown cable" is that bad for the car? |
Re: lots of blue smoke on newer engine? turbo
It could be the turbo. Oil pooling in the turbo and burning off.
