Re: keep the stock engine oil cooler or get rid of it
It's just weight and a potential oil leak. I'd get rid of it personally. Also allows you to run a larger filter which isn't a bad thing.

Thanks Chris I think I'l take your advice and get rid off it.
I think it could be some of my problem with main bearing trouble. |

Clary:
I see Nova Scotia is your location. You have real winters and an important function of the "cooler" is that it uses the faster warming water temp to bring oil temp into it's most effective operating range more quickly. The cooler shouldn't leak. If it does then the large fastener holding the cooler to the block has loosened or the factory never tightened it properly. I've always used the full sized oil filter but perhaps some exhaust systems might not allow that. |

The car is only drove in the summer weather, then she;s laid up in the garage all winter then the wife and I go to Kissimmee Florida for 6 months. I'am just wondering if it's better to get rid of it or keep it, is it just taking up space in the engine bay. Thank you guys a lot Clary. |
