If I were to stumble across $8000-$9000

Well, I guess maybe not stumble across it, but I "MIGHT" be able to get ahold of this kind of money in the near future. This will be going into a thirdgen, but it is an LT1. I have the motor, and it is in good shape, but it is an impala motor. I think it has 104,000 on the clock. It has the vented opti(which I will replace). I was wondering what my best bet would be to do a complete build up of the motor. The cost doesnt have to include exhaust or anything like that. The wiring harness, accessories, MAF, and computer I have are actually out of a 95 T/A.

I was origionally thinking of a Forged 396, but I have read that you sacrifice either on the pistons or rod length to go this route. I was now thinking a forged 3??. Should I go with a stroker or just a 355. I was quoted 750 on all the machine work for the stroker. I was thinking that if I could go with a supercharger, I could lower the compression and run a good amount of boost with forged intearnals. I just need to know what parts to use and what is actually in this budget. I was figuring on one of the comp cam blower cam kits. From CMSMotorsports(I think this is the name of the company). There kit includes the springs rockers, cam and associated. I believe that kit is around 600. I think the blower kit its self is around 4000. I can build the motor myself, and install everything myself. I would like a set of AFR heads, but I believe that they run in the 2000 range and I dont have an unlimited budget.

Ok, so with what I have stated in mind, what do you think is a realistic goal for what I should get. Assume a 9000 dollar budget for long block and supercharger together. Is it doable and what parts should I use. The opti, exhaust and stuff like that will be covered by other sources of money so just worry about what I would need to get the actuall motor together.

Thanks

Ben
