How much RWHP with a T-trim

I'm just a bit bored and was wondering what kind of numbers people have seen with a t-trim vortech.

I wont even be able to get to this project till out of school, but right now the plan is a new 383, 8.8:1 or so, AFR 220's, something like a 227/239 114 cam, and max out a t-trim.

Just looking for some replies.....thanks guys.

I am sure you can make close to 650 rwhp with a setup like that.

T Trim is rated for 825 crank hp by Vortech.

t-trim power

i'm running a vortech t-trim (9lbs.) on my 383 with afr's 210 race ready head with mild work done to the heads, accel super ram intake, comp ratio is 9.0:1,
1 7/8 inch dyno headers, cam specs: adv. in. 272 - ex. 282 / @ .050 - in. 225 ex. 234 on 112 lc. overlap is 53 deg., rocker arm ratio: in. 1.6 ex 1.5. on the engine dyno it made: 730hp @5800 / 700 lb. ft. @4300 / gas was 100 octane.

whats great about this combo is that there is room for improvment!!

53 degrees O/L based on advertised duration.

Speed9-

those numbers look pretty darn good for only 9psi. I also would think with that cam that you would peak higher.....running out of fuel of something?

A friend uses a maxed out T-trim on his 383 and sees ~600rwhp though an automatic. It has a mild HR cam and good porting on stock castings.

to tell you the truth i was shooting for about 550ish hp and at least 500 lb. ft at the flywheel…the numbers that this combo put up even surprised the engine builder (allen). i guess this guy really knows how to move air efficiently . i have to scan my dyno sheet(s) and post them along with the cam sheet from isky. yes this engine should peak alot higher than what we shut off at but remember that this is still a street motor with darn good manners, even with out a proper tune in the car. i'm guess this thing could spin to 7,000rpm.

i also had great help from the guys at vortech to select a proper and efficient head unit for my application, i do have some paper work for this that would interest you guys(i'll post it next monday). in fact the cam i selected was too small for his standards (lingenfelters blower grind…its for sell NEW w/ matching double valve springs BTW). anyways as far as the fuel system everything is up to meet this power level except for maybe the fuel pump, aeromotive's smaller of their two big fuel pumps - rated for blower motors up to 700hp).

to be honest with you i think this motor is not making 700 hp in the car for various reasons, but i can tell you that the car on the freeway went from 80mph to 135mph in about 4.5-5.0 seconds, thats where the power band really starts to shines…plus 700 lb. ft, ha ha.

RSkrause...

what converter?? i would say a maxed T-trim should put a bit more than 600rwhp through an auto with a stock or small converter...

im a bit surprised... You made 600rwhp with an S-trim, so did I...

Not sure about the converter, just reporting on his results. However, he has a very small cam, and that's where the difference is, I suspect. Peak hp is ~5,400rpm. Obviously, the T-trim flows more air than an S-trim and therefore can make more hp.

hmm... still... There is something wrong there

If its a HUGE stall... there will be some HP lost.. but how do you explain that a 565rwhp car runs 10.2@136mph??? jaja.. huge stall!!

Nope, nothing wrong with the car. That's how much it made, what can I say? Converter is not huge, I think it's about a 3,200 stall, but am not sure.

FWIW, a big stall auto vs. a manual can be an 8-10% difference in RWHP. That's why you need to be pretty powerful to go faster with an auto.
