how long do they last?
how long do they last?
I have seen so many ads for super chargers for sale that say they are rebuilt. I was just wondering how many miles you can put on one before they need to be rebuilt.

I had about 90,000 miles on mine, but I set it in when I redid the motor. I figured that it couldn't hurt. All in all the blower was fine when I pulled it and sent it in, just wanted to do it to make sure. The guy at ATI just put in new seals and bearings and set it back.

Re: how long do they last?
I have said this many many times before. The first thing anybody does before they even run the car to warm it up is to get it tuned properly. Make sure the cars air/fuel raito is good, and all the extra stuff is good to go and the car will run for a long time. I am sure it did not hurt that I have always used mobil 1 or castrol synthetic, and that I put on a extra oil cooler, bigger radiator etc.etc. But first and formost is to get the motor dialed in first, then understand that the stock motor can only take so much. But after it finally gives up the ghost, then let your budget be your guide. For me I also have a 1968 Camaro sitting in the wings so, I did not go crazy on the rebuild, and just wanted to upgrade the major weak point of the LT1(pistons). So my rebuild total cost me around $2000 total, but my buddy and I pull the motor and slapped everything back together, only had the motor honed and heads done at a shop. In anycase good luck to all.
