Just curious is a blower cam would provide that much benefit vs. hotcam (what I currently have installed).

The specs dont look a whole lot different:

Hotcam:

218/228 @ .050
.525/.525 (w/ 1.6 roller rockers)
112 LSA

Blowercam:

224/236 @ .050
.575ish / .585 ish (w/ 1.6 roller rockers)
114 LSA


This would be on a stock mildly ported head, 1 3/4" long tube, stock bottom end lt1 pushing 11 psi boost from a p600b and water/meth injection.

I went from a CC 305 on a 112 lsa to a cam similar to your blower cam example and picked up 43 rwhp. That was with only 6 lb of boost.

Go ahead & build it up with the blower, headers, etc & see how you like it before swapping camshafts.

Did you go from a stock cam to a blower cam?

or some non-stock cam (such as hotcam) to a blower cam?

If you went from say a hot cam to that cam and picked up 43 rwhp, then yes Im probably going to run out and swap cams.

Are you on a stock-bottom end?

The one thing I fear is if I go to a cam that makes more power w/ blower, that it is going to be more likely to detonate.

Right now, everything is working fine and Im not getting detonation.

He wrote he had a CC305 which is a 220-230 w/ .544 lift before the blower cam. So a little larger then a Hotcam.

I have had all forged internals from the first build.

I think most people will tell you that 11 lbs of boost on a stock bottom end is risky.

I agree, but would about with meth/water injection. Also dont forget GM motors have knock control (unlike Ford's).

I even have a fail-safe rigged such that it wont boost if the meth system 'faults' (ie. loses pressure).
