Fans and Intercoolers?

Why dont I ever see remote mounted intercoolers with low profile fans pushing air through them? It would seem like the ideal setup for cars like ours with minimal front penetrations for both the intercooler and radiator. i was thinking something like the locations for the Twin High Flow intercoolers from procharger with two small electric fans on them. any reason this doesnt work?

I have seen it,, sometimes its more piping I guess...

People like fmic because you generally don't have to add a fan.

I have seen a setup with the intercooler mounted in the front bumper, but parallel to the ground, running a puller fan on top of it.

Yup thats exactly what I was talking about, you could even put louvers on it to help pull air up. I like FMIC but for road course track days I need all the Air through the radiator that I can get. if I could get the same results with electric fans I would rather do that.

i have personally never seen fans on an air-to-air ic. i have seen them on plenty of heat exchangers for air-to-water.

i have seen people use spray bars with n2o or meth to cool down an air-to-air though.

I did exactly what your describing on my setup. Procharger 3 row intercooler mounted horizontally in their recommended location. I fabbed up a sheet metal shroud and put a pair of small Spal fans on it.

Years ago I had a procharger twin intercooler kit with my turbo setup. I did put 10 inch fans on the intercoolers. I'm sure they helped some, but 10 inch fans don't necessarily move that much air.
