How 'bout that ring end gap?

and the hyper-crapptic pistons...
I broke 2 ring lands running 8 psi on the stock bottom end. Fuel was pretty spot on, but it didnt make a difference. The only good thing about it was i still made ~ 450 rwhp

9 years running on the original stock long block with a 6psi Vortec S-trim kit. I did upgrade valve springs to deal with valve float. Over 200 1/4 mile passes in the high 12's on street tires, lots of auto-Xing, and some pretty hard street use. I put the kit on with 18,000 on the odometer and current reading is 35,500. Knock on wood no problems.

Most people will tell you this is not possible to run 9 lbs. on stock internals. However, there will always be stories out there of people doing everything.

It really all comes down to the tuning. If your tune is DEAD ON, and you don't detonate at all, then it could possibly last a while. Or not....
