yeah id definitely be careful...9psi on an lt1 may only be possible with a good intercooler, the alky injection and 110 octane gas with a somewhat safe tune...id run no more than 8 until you get the new motor in

I personaly would not even put any boost to a stock lt1 motor unless you actualy want to blow it up.

Well, i got mine to hold 10psi piston and ring wise. But the stock bottom end just isn't ment to hold that kinda power as it says in my sig ...

either go with 4-5psi which is still alot more power.. or start buying parts for the new engine.. it will go... sooner then you think. Mine lasted 2-3 weeks of maybe 6 hours of total running time.. maybe 20min of full throttle beating...felt good while it lasted. Now my car is sitting in hundreds of parts waiting for me to get the money to fix it

Yes. My totally stock long block lt1 regularly sees 8.5-9lbs of boost with the small intercooler provided by ATI, no extra intake cooling, and 93 octane. Been at it 3 years now.

What Lottery numbers do you recommend?

Stock 130,000 mile LT1 with bolt ons and a small cam - 8lbs of Vortech SQ-Trim boost for 1.5 years, raced 3 times a week before finally smoking the headgaskets. The ring lands went after about 8 months of boost - car ran great still.

Yes it can take as much boost as you want, but it's hard to say how long it will last.

ProCharger used to have a standard 9 lb kit for stock LT1s. I think they dropped it and went to a standard 8 lb kit because stock LT1s weren't holding up too long.

Well I might just run the normal 5psi on low and 9psi on high with the intercooler and meth kicking on. The intercooler takes some boost away so I might see 8-8.5psi anyways.

I ran 9 lbs, it held for 2 years doing that racing every weekend. it finally dropped a valve from me getting valve float from all the 6800 RPM run I was making, I would see 10 lbs at 6800 RPM. if I wouldnt have reved it that high it would still be together.

Haha. I admit that I must be pretty lucky when compared to the others and their stories.

Wish I could remember the exact mileage when I put it on for reference but if I had to guess, I'd say it was probably around 65k. I drive it every day now so it has close to 100k if not more.

I credit the good tune, and common sense of the operator. I keep a low temp thermo in it and won't run it hard unless it is cool. I wish everyone could have the same results with LT1s.

Knock on wood...I also have the same 10 bolt rear I snagged out of the same car I got the engine out of. It has been running Nittos for some time now.

I bet my junk breaks tomorrow, lol.

I blew the rings lands out of 2 stock motors in one summer with 9-11 psi. Pistons in the first motor came out in pieces when I tore it down. I didn't bother tearing down the second one.

I killed 2 stock shortblocks with 7psi in a 6 month period. Shattered ringlands everytime.

How 'bout that ring end gap?

and the hyper-crapptic pistons...
