BOV ?'s

What is the difference between a bypass valve and a BOV? I am taking for granted that a BOV = blow off valve, correct me if I am wrong. Don't they do the same thing?

I am putting my car back together right now, actually a 2 year process, had some other issues to work on so the car took the back burner. Any way, long story made short. I bought a used procharger kit (from this board actually) and installing it on the car now. Does anyone have a pic of a bypass/blow off valve that came with the ATI P600B?

I am sure I will have a few more questions for you guys, the more I get into this.

Thanks
Mike

Well the answer is kinda yes and no, The bypass valve is a little different in that under no boost conditions and high vacuum it will be wide open "bypassing pressure that the blower may be putting out and routing it back to the inlet of the blower, when you get in the gas and vacuum starts going away the valve shuts allowing all the blower discharge to go toward the Throttlebody. A BOV will generally not be wide open under vac conditions. It will usually lift when there is significant pressure in the intake tract and vacuum in the intake manifold (like shifting or hard decel). This tendency to only lift quickly is what givs it it's distinct sound. The Bypass and BOV will function similarily during shifting and decel though. Hope I cleared it up a little.

Hey Mike, long time no see! You're car's been out of commission longer than mine. :D

I don't think I have any pics that you'd need of my old Procharger setup. I do have the manual in PDF format if it's any help.

You and Pete planning on going to Dayton this year?

Yea man, What's up Joe? Finally getting around to working on the car again. What's up with yours buddy? Well if I get it running the way it should I would like to go back to the nationals.

Putting the intercooler up front, she's running a little hotter than I like. So I need to work that out also. I'll post something on that a little later. Thinking about doing some cutting on the nose between the fog lights to pick up more air.

As far as that PDF file I would like to see that Send that baby my way n2gravity@aol.com
