I have a 94 camaro z28 with all bolt ons like 58 holley, pulleys, filter, etc, etc. I have a the lt4 hot cam with 1:6 rockers. Everything else is stock. My question is I wanted to put a ati superchager on the car next summer. I was thinking 8 psi of boost. But I know sooner or later you will have to rebuild the engine anyways. So I plain to rebuild the engine first to handle the boost. If thats the case I wanted to go with a 12 or 15 psi. My question is what must I need for that type of boost. I wanted to rebuild the bottom end so 12-15 boost wont kill my engine for years. Also how much horspower should that boost give me with a nice a blower cam and bolt ons. What should I be running in 1/4 mile roughly around

 

I also have a 94 with LT4 hot cam. My engine didn't last long on 9LB of boost, because the LT4 heads raise the compresion to 10.9 to1. I rebuilt it with sportman roads and JE low compresion pistons back in sep 2001. i mow run a 17LB pully but i only see 15LB in vegas due to the altitude. The car made 426 with 9LB pully and now 476 with 17lb pully. I did have to put on 42LB injectors when i whent to the 17LB pully.Is your car an auto or 6 speed? I have had a hard time with trannys for a while till i had one built for the power.

 

Yeah it's a 6 six with 4:10 gears. The heads are stock. I just have the lt4 hot cam with stock heads. But next summer I want to go extreme. I wanted a procharger more then anything. But I think it would be cheaper just to go with a more aggressive head/cam package. I'm not sure. For all the $$$ I'm putting in for the superchager and building up the bottom end. I think I'm better off buying a brand new crate motor. My goal is to run low 11's but still stay streetable for almost every day driving in the summer time. Not long trips just a cruise around my area. I just want something where you feel the power when you nail it. Something to beat these cobras with superchagers and vipers.

 

With a 6 speed you will need to invest in a 12 bolt or 9 inch rear i would and i would also lower the rear gear to 3.42 or even 3.23. The longer you are in gear the longer you are in boost. My car is a daily driver and i drive back and forth between las Vegas NV and Albuquerque NM once a month. Your goal of 11's and beating vipers every once in a while, a 396 build up with good parts and 100 shot of nitrous sounds like a better setup. Ether way the LT4 hot cam is not optimal for power adders.
