9lbs boost on 15lbs tune questions

My cars running pig rich bc I have a 9lb pulley running on a tune for 15lbs. This was the setup when I bought the car. My question is this: What would you do? I can get the car retuned for 9lbs for $150. Car will run stoich, less boost to stress the motor, I'm out $150 and probably wont see much increase in MPG cause I always drive like a granny (shift before 2500) 80% of the time. Or..... I can get the 15lb pulley and sell mine on ebay. Car runs stoich, Im out a couple of $$ Ill make 500RWHP but Ill stress the motor and have to deal with the hot Vegas heat once summer returns. BTW does running rich cause more heat?? The motor was rebuilt 20k ago, cast crank forged pistons and has run at 15lbs for probably 10K of the 20K.
SUGGESTIONS? THOUGHTS?

The only thing going to be different on your new tune is going to be WOT Fuel and maybe a degree or so more timing due to the lower boost. If your having part throttle richness now, it's not because of the switch between the 9 and 15 psi pulley, it's because of a crappy original tune. If you going to have someone correct that plan on a little more than $150.

yep, Its the maps that need to be changed up. part throttle is great its just after 3500 where the car starts spitting out black smoke (gas). I have complete confidence in the current tune at 15lbs. I believe the intake side hoses start to collapse around 15lbs too, so thats another concern. I guess thats where I could spend the $150. so back to my Q: Is the added stress going to be OK on the cast bottom end?

I ran 18psi with my turbo on a stock crank, and rods (ARP bolts) and forged pistons. If you keep the revs below 6K it should work fine. I ran that setup for 2 years or so, I replaced the stock stuff so I could run more power, not because anything failed.

No, running lean heats up the cylinders, running rich will wash them down.

revs always stay below 6K and I am running ARP bolts so that's a bit comforting. I need to investigate what is collapsing on the intake side at 15lbs

Anything that is not solid metal will collapse. Then after you have a solid intake tube, make sure the air filter is large enough

If you're in vegas, get ahold of either 1320 or ZombieSS on the LVFbody board and see if they can't help you out with your tune.

That's a common problem on the LT1 procharger systems. Replace the "hose" that they give you with a rubber elbow and a metal piece so you don't have the hose collapse on itself limiting you to boost. My friend Bran in San Antonio had that happen to him. Did the above and all was good. :)

I want to go see Jon when I have some $$ to get the hoses redone. Im sure the tune is perfect for 15lbs and the Vegas elevation. I'm trying to keep this as cheep as possible. Thanks for the reply.
