3800 Series II + Turbo
3800 Series II + Turbo
I have been thinking lately about turbocharging my 2000 Regal LS.
This is what I know so far about these engines, the supercharged 3800s came with 8.5:1 compression and the NA's came with 9.4:1
Here are my questions.
1. What would max boost be on pump gas
2. Just opinions on size/brand turbo
I just want a good power increase from it, still has to act and be a daily driver and be reliable. Would it be a good idea to swap out the pistons to something stronger? I dont really think I need to drop the compression necessarily, just wont run as much boost on it. Itd be nice to make about 300 @ wheels, shouldnt really be a problem if its done right.

By the way, does anyone know where to find engine consumption charts for any engine? I emailed forced inductions but havent heard back yet.

Re: 3800 Series II + Turbo
Very true..................if you contact both of those vendors, they do know what they are talking about. I know ZZPerformance has a Monte Carlo SS with a NA 3800 that is fast. I am not as sure about Intense, I know they have a lot of cars with the SC 3800 that are quick, but they should have some good advice for you. They are also getting ready to release a turbo kit, well they keep saying they are.
Re: 3800 Series II + Turbo
Sounds like these engines are built pretty stout for what they are, what Ive been hearing is that a NA 3800 is good for around 400whp (~500 at the crank), sounds like a lot to me, I dont want anything like that, its just a daily driver, but It would be badass to be able to beat mustangs and stuff in a Pewter granny regal
