Question 16 Gauge 1 5/8" Mild Steel U's or 90°

I am interested in starting a bit of a project, and I am looking for 1 5/8" mild steel U, J bends, and 90° in 16 gauge or thicker. Most of the places I have found (Stahl Headers) has only 18 gauge 1 5/8" which is a bit too thin for the heat. Anyone have a suggest on where to purchase these items??

18* J-bends from S&S

U-bends from PTK

Steel tubing from Air-Flo

That should help you out a little bit.

Anyone else have any ideas, Pro Turbo kits seems a bit high on the mandrel bends. Stahl Headers price is right, but the wrong gauge

If you don't mind stepping up, Burns has some nice prices on 304 stainless U bends.

I'm not sure on the mild steel though. I'm assuming you're trying to build turbo headers.

Yeah wasn't looking to step up to stainless 304 for the first set. A few people have had good luck with 16 gauge mild steel, JordonMusser being one of them. I figure the mild steel is cheap enough if I fudge up I am not going to cry, plus I can always get them jethot coated to add some life to them.

I've heard mixed results. I'm going to spend the extra cash and make my set out of 1 7/8" 321 stainless so I never have to make another set. As I said in another post, header construction begins after I finish paying for Christmas, sometime in June.
