Swine Flu > New Braunfels

The swine flu ended up in New Braunfels.

Both school districts in town are closing schools until May 11th. Almost two weeks!

Jeremy and I both have the flu compounded with allergies right now. No idea if it's this particular strain or not though. Went to the doc this morning and she didn't have the tests in yet.

Now I'm not saying that swine flu is going to turn out like that, but there is definitely reason to not just blow it off as media crap.
Not to mention we are much more mobile today. People from everywhere going everywhere.

I live a county up from the 2 infected counties here in California. There's a bunch of people here from cookarachaville one of which that lives 2 houses down from me got back from there 2 days ago. Being type 1 diabetic, and having my wisdom teeth taken out doesn't leave me a whole lot of resistance. So yeah s*** sucks. Be glad it's NOT near you.

I don't think you can get it from eating pork. However, if a (live) pig sneezes on you, you may have a problem.

The only problem is that there is no vaccine yet. I am not really worried at this point. The common flu kills about 36,000 people here every single year:

Some even say those numbers are low.
