Problems eating raw vegetables?

Anyone else have any issues with raw vegetables? I mainly get really bad throat irritation with raw carrots, peppers and pea-pods. It gets to the point that my throat feels like it is closing and I cough a lot, by my throat isn't actually closing.

Re: Problems eating raw vegetables?

It sounds like an allergy. I would say don't eat them. I used to have that same problem with certain raw fruits. The problem was it was all my favorites. I would still eat a couple so the effects were minimal. Now I don't seem to have any allergies.

What about something like drinking a V8? Does it happen then as well?

Re: Problems eating raw vegetables?

This has happened to me when eating cherries, peaches, and some apples, even. I figured it's just an allergic reaction and it doesn't last too long.

It's never happened with vegetables.

I wonder if you're allergic to the sugar that's in the fruits.

Re: Problems eating raw vegetables?

It's most likely a immunoglobulin E reaction to the proteins in what you are eating....do you have allergies to pollen? Try peeling the fruit first and see if that helps

I have allergic reaction to apples, peaches, plums and slot of other fruits except citrus. Sometimes have a mild reaction to pecans and carrots too. I tried peeled apples and still get same result.
