PC Game Question

Ok, figured we would have some PC gamers on here. So I want to throw out a quick question. Does anyone play BF2. If so. Have you ever tried to install and play the game from a mapped network drive? I have this issue with having no optical drive at the moment, and I would like to play my BF2. So, anyone try this at all. I know installation is possible, but it's the CD check that is a bugger even if you do have an optical drive in the computer.

There is talk of EA removing the need to use the disk, a new patch game out for it about a week ago, but I do not think they addressed the cd check yet. The game is quite old now so support is (should be) more or less gone.
