It's still very dangerous. These are the MRSA stats from 2005.
The estimated number of people developing a serious MRSA infection (i.e., invasive) in 2005 was about 94,360.

Approximately 18,650 persons died during a hospital stay related to these serious MRSA infections

washing hands make sure you pay attention to your fingernails--under the fingernails

like I said it can live inside your nose even if you don't have an infected wound--open sore

and you need to use the alcohol based hand sanitizers

this is nasty stuff if you get 1 you will know it--its painful and will not stay scabbed over it will ooooz and oooz liquid clear or puss and it can then get the infection into your blood stream and you can die from it

Unfortunately you can be infected in many ways. But yes, washing your hands frequently definitely helps. That's a part of why I hesitated to start this thread, was that people on here might think I was dirty, never washed, etc. I'm a clean person but I'm pretty sure I got it from the gym doing deadlifts. It's a very unlucky situation IMO.

Anyways I promised I would post pics so here they are. For the squeamish you might not want to look. These were taken yesterday, almost 2 weeks after I noticed the 'pimples' and after almost 1 week of antibiotics. For those that might ask 'How do those look better', I will tell you they were A LOT worse.

This is my right thigh. The one above my knee isn't as bad as it looks. The one on the inside of my thigh (top of the pic) was the worst out of my thighs.

This is on my left calf. This is the one me and my doc are most worried about. She had to lance both of my calves open to let the fluids drain out. It's still pretty red but as bad as it was IMO it's doing pretty good. Like all of the others, it was A LOT worse.

My friends step mother went into the hospital for a severely sprained ankle and was dead 6 days later because of MRSA..she had alot of other health issues so her immune system wasn't anywhere near normal.

Hope i never get it, i'm allergic to bactrum

And you can definitely count me out of the fitness challenge.

I still have quite a ways to fully recover from this ****. Everything seems to be going well, but there's always a chance things can turn south in a heartbeat. I really appreciate the kind words and wishes to get better. I believe that keeping a positive attitude helps.

OK, as long as 94 is not going to die. Don't want anyone to die that is for sure.

Well if I suddenly stop posting forever then you guys know why.

Nah, I think after two weeks of having this and I'm not in the hospital yet is a pretty good sign.

And if you google MRSA images you'll see that mine look minor compared to most.

I was just thinking about this because I have a pimple on my face that I sliced through with my DE razor like 2+ weeks ago. It's still there and really red and won't go away.

How are you doing anyway?
