Wtf. Am I the only one laughing at his little scurry across the floor?

And why didn't the guy just kick him Pele style? Or at least throw some punches?

I'm lost...

Technically you can't kick someone if they aren't on their feet(At least not in their head). You could def. never put the guy in any type of leg or arm submission.

I've seen soccer kicks in mma.

Edit: I guess that is only on tv?

Most MMA rules do not allow you to kick an opponent in the head if they are not on their feet. Even if they were getting up but still have a knee on the ground a kick or knee to the head is not allowed.

If they are down you can kick them in their thighs or legs as much as you want, but you can't kid their head like your kicking an extra point.

I know this guy is an inspiration and kudos to him for doing something no one would expected him to be able to do - but... I really just don't think it's a fair fight for him OR his opponent. In fact, watching the video made me feel terrible for the guy he was fighting because he probably realized he could hop on top of him and just pound away but he obviously didn't want to.

I wouldn't either.

Moves like that were legal in either K-1 or Pride....I don't think stuff like that is allowed in any of the MMA sanctioned events in the US.

Since the UFC is the biggest MMA show on the planet now and they fight in sanctioned states with an oversight from the athletic commission they must follow their rules. 99% of people only know what the UFC shows them as they are the casual fan.

Kicks to the head of a downed opponent are not legal. Neither are elbows to the back of the head or a downward elbow.

This **** is ridiculous. The dude shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a ring, whether it's wrestling or martial arts.

He can't compete at martial arts and he has too great of an advantage over those he wrestles.

It was a couple of pride fights. Found a couple videos on the tube highlighting Mirko and found the fights.

That is Kyle Maynard who has competed a ton in wrestling and submission grappling. He has more experience in those fields than most of the people that enter the MMA scene.

He was not allowed to strike because he was not wearing gloves. He originally was going to, but they had a hard time getting the gloves/tape to stick on his arms.

He is passionate about MMA and has trained with some of the best fighters in the world, so if he wants to compete and is fully aware of the risk... I guess let him.

*shrug*
