Can anyone tell me where VISTA keeps downloaded email? I am after the file name.

vista doesn't download e-mail. what client are you using?

webmail?
outlook?
thunderbird?

etc

Here is one for Outlook. Should be pretty close to the same through the versions as far as the file extensions and such.

I remember doing backups of e-mails when we had to do format and reloads on peoples computers due to various reasons.

maybe pick a sentence from an email, download it, then search C: for 'including file contents' or whatever it is.

Well my OS is Vista and I use the Windows Mail program, I just thought it sent downloaded mail to a certain place.

My email provider is shaw (big CDN name)

I am trying to import my old messages from my old HD to my new computer.

no items match your search

Some how I found the old messages...on the new HD....I got them copied to my documents. Good enough

Windows Mail in vista. Pge is here for where all the files are. all the e-mails are saved in a single file.
