Did anyone elses Directv bill go up this month?

my bill has been around $98 for over a year now. ive made 0 changes, and this month it was $110... !!!

wtf. this nickel and diming of every utility i have slowly going up is killing me. every month something goes up just a littttttle more.. food, gas, utilities etc.

i have basic Directv, two recievers, and the only premium movie channels i have are HBO and cinemax. no HDTV, no gameday, no full movie channels, no extra sports crap.. $110 a month for basic directv and 2 movie channels !

I'll have to check. I actually dropped my DTV package down a notch a while back because it was getting a bit ridiculous.

However, I have no plans on switching - I've had Dish Network before and was less than impressed, and Comcast just blows. I hear decent things about U-Verse but I dunno....

All you have to do is call retentions and tell them the price is getting too high. I did that recently and got $20off per month for 12 months (and I have only had DirecTV for 1 year). Once the NFL season is officially announced, I will call in again and try and get some deals associate with Sunday Ticket.

Just call the customer service number and say cancel twice to get you to retentions. They always give the best offers.

They are offering Sunday Ticket for free now to new subscribers. I may be switching soon.

Do you get all of the local HD channels yet (FOX/CBS/NBC)?

I agree, my experience with DTV has been good in that area. When I called to drop my package down they were able to lower my price AND throw in some premium channels for a few months, just because.

Yes.

The free Sunday Ticket offer is going to bring them a huge number of customers. Pretty brilliant.

Yes, we finally get all of our locals. It is definitely worth the switch IMO, they are way better than TW in our area, plus ST is AWESOME if you are a football fan.

Re: Did anyone elses Directv bill go up this month?

ill call them today.. that is pretty ridiculous.. anything over $100 just to watch Tv.. i could understand if i get NFL ticket, and HD, and had like 3 recievers with DVR.

but i only get 2 movie channels.. the thing that sucks is what everyone else said, comcast blows, and dish isnt any better. ive had Directv for like 8 years now... ill call and bitch today and hopefully get it back to where it was.

get rid of it. paying for cable/satellite is a waste of money. you can get Hulu Plus and Netflix for under $20 a month. add in torrents and network tv sites and you can get damn near any show you want.

This, paying $129 now. I wish I could cancel it but I wouldn't do that to the twins.

I can't wait for my DTV contract to be up in a year. I am going to use an HD antenna, Netflix, and once of the hulu-like sites. Mine DTV went up this monthas well, since my 12 month offer crap just went away.

Not everyone wants to watch shows on their computer screen, or stream to their TV, or especially deal with torrents. Plus, charging residential customers for bandwidth used is inevitable and is already causing the around here.
