Weird coincidence. Same day a newbie signed up, posted on a thread from 2003 in Advanced Tech, immediately signed off and never came back. Checked the IP address and they were not the same person.

I just wish we had more members that would help out daily. There's about 1/2-dozen of us left. On the other hand, 90% of the questions are about the LT1 cars.

it would be interesting to see traffic data for this site. also new member numbers and other general data. I would love to see what it all looks like over the past 20 years.

Re: 50:1 vs 40:1 gas:oil ratio; are they interchangable?

To be honest, it's dying a slow death. The only people who come here any more are LT1 owners, usually young guys that bought a clapped out 25 year old car, and have to fix the many problems we've all been dealing with for the past 20 years. I'd say there is an average of one new member a week, and half of them are “one-and-done”. Get an answer, and never come back again. Once in a while a 5th or 6th Gen owner shows up, realizes there is no one here to help them, and departs. V6, 3rd Gen and Classic are dead. I try to help them out on the rare occasion that someone posts in those forums.

There is a cadre of maybe a 1/2-dozen LT1 owners who are here regularly. As far as I can tell, I'm the only moderator who is on here every day. Many of the moderators listed under the forums haven't signed in in years. JakeRobb is here occasionally, and is about the only member who can answer LS1 questions. Well... there's actually an electrical engineer (GaryDoug) I brought here about 5 years ago. He has a 98 T/A and covers the LS1 cars, and has written scanning/data logging software for the LT1 and LS1 that is better than anything else out there. He also has built an LT1 simulator with a functional PCM, working Opti, and variable input sensors that help analyze difficult problems.

Shoebox is still here, even though he sold his LT1. Ironic that the three most active members don't even own a Camaro.

The “Administrator” has not signed in at all in 2018, have no idea if he is still alive. I end up dealing with the spammers, and interfacing with Internet Brands on site problems. Fortunately Chris provided me with admin privileges a couple years ago, or I couldn’t do any of that. At my advandce stage of “senior citizenry” I could kick off at any moment, and I doubt anyone would even notice.

End of rant......

I think so. But not sure. I was never into The Lounge. It was really like two different worlds..... socializing in the Lounge and tech stuff in the forums. Very little crossover.

Dang, I was hoping to advise the leaf/snow blower owner to stop using oil altogether! Those things are possibly the most hated machines in the civilized world ;-)

I think they changed it back so Lounge posts count, maybe around the time they sold the site.

They did one “cleanup” and I lost over 35,000 posts. When I asked what happened they said it was because they purged the Lounge posts from the total. But I hardly ever posted in the Lounge.
