Super Quick Exhaust Question
 

So I have a 260z I'm restoring, and it's a NA L26 engine (I believe). Anyway, point is it's an inline six. I just bought 2 1/2 inch exhaust pipe to go from the headers back. No cat, just muffler.

My question is, what's so bad about having a straight pipe that's 3" on cars that are n/a from the headers back? And will my 2 1/2 inch be okay?

Btw, I ended up doing this anyway. On the inline six, it sounds amazing with a n1 muffler from eBay! By far one of the best combinations I have ever tried. As far as the 2.5" piping, it works great on the engine from the headers down, has a noticeable power increase and doesn't backfire like the straight pipes w/o the muffler did. For $120, it's a sick setup. :)
