I have a magnaflow cat back system on my car, I pulled out a peice about 1.5inches in width and 2-3inches in length of a honey comb shape out of my tail pipe. Would this just be a packing of my exhaust or would it be part of the cat?

If you're not hearing any rattling noises from the exhaust, just leave it alone, no problem. If it starts to make noise, you'll need to replace it.

 

That's the start of the matrix breaking up. I would not suggest doing nothing..ther is a possibility that the exhaust will get plugged up as things move around. If you don't want to replace the cat, pull the y-pipe and remove the remaining 'stuff' by poking it and banging on the case and dumping the stuff out....

 

See, the thing is, I live in Canada and we have to do emission testing, I guess i'll have to replace it. Might be interesting finding out which cat it is tho!

 

The LAST thing you want to do is nothing. If another piece breaks off and turns sideways, guess what? You exhaust is blocked. You're on the right track in getting it replaced!

 

If you have emissions testing, by all means, replace the cat.

Well, I looked under the car, and the one has already been replaced! Is there anyway of telling what cat it is? I could just pull off the cat back system and look into it? Where can I get a decently priced cat?
