Electric cutout vibration fix?

My electric cutout has a vibration when I drive. There is a little play on the door and it is very annoying. Has anyone fixed this problem? I took it apart and there seems to be no adjusment to tighten it up.

Re: Electric cutout vibration fix?

I have a 3 1/2" QTP electric bypass.
App is a 1997ss w/ 383ci-D1 FI and MM6 trans.

My butterfly plate bent due to exhaust pressure and heat. The round plate is about 0.060" thick, and, I think normalized due to continued heat soak and high exhaust pressure. It bends around the drive shaft and will gap on the unsupported side of the valve seat.

This allows it to apear loose and vibrate due to unequal loading on each side of the valve seat. A metalic vibration is present. Reseating the valve plate with the electric motor to re-seat is futile due to unequal loading.

I dropped an e-mail to QTP but no answer. I expected that.

So,
I fabricated my own valve plate from 16 Ga exhaust pipe and welded and additional stiff element (1/8 by 1" crs) to the plate. This worked, but I had to form the lip to seal (a ball pien hammer + die works good) close to the valve seat (small gap). Still working good. But I want better.

Now, I have another idea of attaching semi-circular sections near the plate seat. This will deflect some of the exhaust pressure in a radial direction reducing the "open" force.
B. Hope this helps.

It appears to be a good idea. I will need to read a couple times to totally understand. :) Long Day!!
