Edelbrock + Flowmaster

I just picked up a 97 SS

Currently has:

Edelbrock TES Headers
Flowmaster Catback
pulley
mail order tune.

I know the flowmaster doesn't help.....and I want to ditch it for something else.

I have an old Magnaflow sitting in my garage. Or I could buy a nice Borla or Corsa. On a mostly stock LT1, will it matter in terms of performance which I go with?

Also, any guesstimate on HP difference with these TES vs Longtubes?

Congrats on the new toy!

I have a '97 SS with the same headers and the stock (optional) 2otl system and love it.
Video clips can be found on my YouTube.

You'll pick up a few horsepower from switching to longtubes. I kept the TES (that came with purchase of the car) because the car is lowered, so I need to retain the stock y-pipe for ground clearance issues.

If I decide to build up the motor (more than just a small cam only setup) I'll switch out the Edelbrocks for some longtubes and change out my front springs for something that isn't so low.

You won't notice a lot of power difference between catbacks, I'd say to chose the one you like the best. What's 2-3 horsepower if you hate the way your car sounds?

Lastly, update your sig and post some pics.

Yeah, ditch the Edelbrocks for some longtubes. The Pacesetter LT's don't drop too low, i know people with 2inch drops and LT's with no problems. What Y pipe do you have? I would go with LT headers + offroad Y pipe + old magnaflows, possibly a 10hp gain from your current setup.

I have the Edelbrocks with a Flowmaster. Not totally crazy on the sound, I'll be installing a Hooker or Magnaflow in the future.
