any tips on tightening headers

while i was gone i had my buddy install my pacesetter long tubes. while ive driven them for about 75 miles and want to do a re torque, i took my 3/8's wrench but could only get a good grip on a few of them. anyone have any good tips or what not to make it easier to tighten? (header noob) lol thanks everyone

Make special wrenches by grinding them thinner or bending them or whatever you need to get access to the bolt heads. In my case, I bought a couple extra good quality 7/16s wrenches and modified them to work with the bolts that have tight clearance.

I used small wrenches and sockets and had no trouble with any of them. I used extensions and 1/4 in sockets and swivel to get the hardest ones. The access is so good, I now can changes the plugs in 1/3 the time! :)

I have pacesetter LT's, 7/16 inch box end does the job. Your post prompted me to do a periodic header re-torque and I noticed my bolts that came with the headers are all rusting at the bolt heads after only two years, going to have to replace them with something of better quality.

The 70-74 engine is an LT-1 (note inclusion of hyphen).

The 2nd Gen of the SBC was called the LT1 (note absence of hyphen), and was introduced in the 92 Corvettes, and in 93 in the F-Bodys. In 94 it was used in an iron head version in the B-Body (Caprice, Roadmaster, Fleetwood). Corvette used it to 1996 (including the LT4 version), and F-Bodys used it 93-97.

All LT1's are 350ci. There was a small dispacement version built for the B-Bodys, call the L99, displacing only 265ci.

The Gen 2 SBC is virtually identical to the original SBC, but includes a "reverse flow" cooling system, and has an unconventional distributor with an optical cam position sensor, mounted on the front of the engine and driven off the nose of the cam.

The stock block is incredibly strong, supporting applications over 1,000HP.
